Tom Willard, who has a hearing impairment, has filed a federal complaint against the Moravia-area nudist camp he says is violating the Americans with Disabilities Act by failing to provide an interpreter for the deaf at a naturist festival there this week. Moravia, NY -- For Tom Willard, this week's naturist festival at Empire Haven Nudist Park is more about what he could not hear than what he might want to see.

The 53-year-old deaf man from Rochester recently filed a complaint with the U. Justice Department, charging Empire Haven and festival organizers with disregarding his civil rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.

Sid has the idea of the foursome holidaying there, reasoning that in the environment their heretofore chaste girlfriends will relax their strict moral standards.

Sid easily gains Bernie's co-operation in the scheme, which they bravely attempt to keep secret from the girls. After paying the membership fees to the owner, money-grabbing farmer Josh Fiddler (Peter Butterworth), Sid realises it is not the camp seen in the film, but merely a standard family campsite.

-- In the two decades since they staked their claim to 50 leafy acres southeast of Richmond, the patrons of White Tail Park nudist resort have worshiped at Sunday services, bronzed themselves at the pool, mingled over potluck dinners and generally kept to their bare selves.

And like everyone else who prefers to spend his or her time in the buff, the White Tail nudists have heard the jokes that members of what they call the "textile world" make about nudists being eccentric and even depraved. But when the Virginia General Assembly joined in on it this year and passed a law requiring that children who attend youth nudist camps be accompanied by their parents, grandparents or legal guardians, the naturists' good nature soured.

So in June, the resort and three families filed a suit challenging the law, which they argue violates parents' constitutional rights to bring up their children as they deem appropriate -- even if it includes shipping them off to a camp where naked talent shows and water polo are on the agenda.

Willard said he has tried twice since 2009 to get the nudist camp to provide an interpreter for him.

In July, he received an email from Empire Haven saying, “An interpreter for the deaf is not something Empire Haven or the organizer of the naturist festival provide for this event or any other event.” That response triggered Willard's complaint to the Justice Department.
